Last Friday Night!

Oh, Katy Perry, your songs are horrid but this video is hilarious.

Katy’s new video for “Last Friday Night (T.GI.F)” is an eight minute 80’s high school movie complete with guest appearances from Rebecca Black, Glee cast members, Kenny G, Hanson, Corey Feldman, and Debbie Gibson. And Katy is actually really funny.

Thought I would get in the mood for Friday a little early this week by sharing the video – watch the whole thing!

Now that I have praised her video, I’d like to take a minute (just sit right there and I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Belair) JK.

Actually I’d like to take a minute to point out a little copycatting that I noticed going on by Ms. Perry. I don’t know if this is a coincidence, but both “Last Friday Night” and “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga have cheesy saxophone solos toward the end of the songs. First of all, why? Why are we trying to bring back the worst of the 80’s? I don’t get it. It works in Katy’s video because the whole Kenny G thing is funny, but when you are just listening to the song how do you justify the smooth jazz?

Also, Katy’s last video for “ET” is Gaga-level bizarre. I know she’s all the rage right now, but copying Lady Gaga is not the way to go. If she can barely pull it off, then Katy Perry definitely can’t.
